The 1st National SHAPE Guideline encourages virtually all men 45 and older and women 55 and older to undergo screening for sub-clinical atherosclerosis to determine their future risk of a heart attack.
Step I Test for Atherosclerosis
Step II Find Your Level of Risk
Step III Get Treatment According to Your Risk Level

Cypress Diagnostic Imaging is the first SHAPE Center of Excellence in San Diego, following UCLA and Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles. SHAPE is a validated and guideline based approach to the Early Detection of Atherosclerosis, early stage Coronary Artery disease. The main focus of the program is for risk stratification, providing patients the opportunity to proactively work with their physicians preventatively to reduce their risks of heart attacks and strokes.
In the Unites States, heart disease is the number one cause of death for both and women. Over 1,400,000 heart attacks will occur this year, and 500,000 will be fatal. The SHAPE program will detect and measure atherosclerosis, early in the disease process, in patients who are unaware of their risks and have no symptoms.
About SHAPE
The Society for Heart Attack Prevention and Eradication (SHAPE) is a non-profit organization that is guided by the active guidance and support of world-renowned cardiovascular specialists and researchers. SHAPE promotes public and professional education for early detection of individuals with atherosclerotic plaques that are at risk of heart attacks and stroke but have no symptoms. These individuals who are unaware of their risk are often misclassified by traditional methods. Sadly, every year approximately 600,000 of these asymptomatic individuals in the U.S. and millions worldwide lose their life to a sudden heart attack or stroke. SHAPE is committed to saving these lives by raising awareness of the need for screening to detect asymptomatic atherosclerosis.
